Artists-In-Residence -- Goodbye and Hello

Letter from Karen:

Hello Teachers, Monitors and Studio Members, and Joanna and Erik!

I am happy to welcome our new two new Artists-In-Residence! As you may have heard, we decided to expand our Residency by adding a wheel-throwing position, in addition to continuing the handbuilding AIR. Erik Zohn and Joanna Pike will be arriving in September to begin their year at Lillstreet as the Ceramic Department AIR. Both will be teaching in the Fall, as they swing into their other responsibilities. I look forward to working with them and seeing them begin to build a body of work as the Lillstreet Ceramic AIR.

You may visit their websites:  www.joannapike.com   www.erikzohn.com

I am sure you were amazed by Matt's sculptures in the Gallery, and I hope you enjoyed all the works by Lillstreet's AIR! Matt will be leaving Lillstreet at the end of August to move to the southside to work for Theaster Gates as they begin to build an arts program in that community. Please attend our farewell and celebration potluck "No Sesame Oil" on Friday August 17th at 6:30pm on the Roof of Lillstreet! Good Luck, Matt!

Also on Friday August 17th, you are invited to The Perfect Plate Exhibition Juror Talk at 5:30pm. For this year's themed exhibition, juror Sandy Simon searched far and wide for "the perfect plate", reception to follow 6-8pm.

See you all soon,

Karen
